Today, Zak works as a Senior Participant Support Officer in the public service, supporting people including those from refugee and migrant backgrounds in accessing essential services and living independently. His lived experience allows him to approach his work with empathy and understanding. Beyond his professional role, Zak is deeply involved in community engagement, fostering inclusion and building connections across culturally diverse communities. By sharing his story as a Refugee Ambassador, Zak hopes to challenge stereotypes, humanise refugee experiences, and shift public narratives from pity to pride, highlighting the resilience and contributions refugees bring to Australian society.
